Synopsis :
In 1882, two friends, the sheriff Virgil Cole (Ed Harris) and his partner Everett Hitch (Viggo Mortensen), are assigned to protect a lawless town suffering at the hands of a ruthless, powerful rancher Randall Bragg (Jeremy Irons). The arrival of an attractive widow, Allison French (Renée Zellweger), threaten to destroy the long friendship between the two men law.
